Application of various curtain wall technologies on curtain walls

When talking about curtain walls, we have to mention the buildings of the past. The buildings of the past had thick exterior walls, and it was difficult for designers to choose the layout and size of windows. With the promotion of science and technology by the industrial revolution, the urbanization process was relatively fast, and at the same time, the land for construction was decreasing. European and American countries began to develop new buildings, which are the curtain wall buildings we are familiar with now. The advantage of this kind of building is that the main body of the building is covered with glass, marble, and metal plates. This kind of object has been used in Europe and the United States for more than 100 years, because the curtain wall of the building's exterior decorative surface is light in weight, and the movement of the exterior decorative surface will not affect the main body of the building. Since then, glass curtain walls have been in use and new technologies have been developed.

After nearly a hundred years of development, the materials have become more and more mature, the craftsmanship has become more and more sophisticated, and the disadvantages of curtain walls have become less and less. So how many structures do our glass curtain walls have? 1. Component-type (frame) curtain wall; 2. Unit-type curtain wall 3. Point-supported curtain wall, etc.

First of all, the most used one from the beginning to now is the first type. The component curtain wall is to transport the components processed in the workshop to the construction site, and install the components one by one on the building structure according to the construction process to finally complete the curtain wall installation. Secondly, the unit curtain wall is more industrialized, and a unit can be directly fixed to the main body. The third is the point-supported curtain wall. The curtain wall composed of the point support device and the supporting structure is called the point-supported curtain wall. This structure is expensive but effective and relatively transparent.

Therefore, now from curtain wall glass to structural adhesive, European and American countries have done a good job of research and development. Structural adhesive can be used for 25 years, curtain wall glass has a lifespan of 50 years, and will not explode. For my country, although it has only been 30 years since the introduction of glass curtain wall buildings on a large scale from the West to the present, although traditional curtain walls were used before 2003, the Ministry of Construction began to pay attention to the materials used in curtain wall buildings and the quality of construction workers. At the same time, the qualifications of enterprises engaged in it have also become more important.
